AUTHOR Q & A: Lizzy Ford ( + Omega Beginnings Miniseries!)

Before we dive into the world of Alessandra in Omega, Lizzy Ford introduced us to the eight short stories of each character in Omega which she called, the Omega Beginnings Miniseries. But before we talk about it, I had the opportunity to interview this amazing writer of several young adult, new adult and adult romance novels.

lizzyford

Lizzy Ford authored over forty titles written for young adult, new adult and adult readers, including the internationally bestselling “Rhyn Trilogy,” “Witchling Series,” “Zoey Rogue” and the “War of Gods” series. Lizzy’s books span multiple subgenres of romance, to include contemporary, paranormal and dystopian, among others.

Lizzy has focused on keeping her readers happy by producing brilliant, gritty romances that remind people why true love is a trial worth enduring. Her books have been featured in Publishers Weekly, Romantic Times, USA Today, Huffington Post, Kirkus Reviews, and many other places. She lives in southern Arizona with her husband, sister, three dogs and a cat.

Q & A:

1. When did you start feeling the need to write all these amazing stories in your mind?

I’ve always felt my calling was to become a writer. I think when I was nine years old, I first really KNEW it was my fate. But … I kind of lost track of the dream for a very long time or at least, didn’t follow it the way I should have. It took me a while to find my way back to my dream but I did it in early 2011 and have been so happy since then!

2. How does it feel that your readers are loving your books?

It’s honestly a surreal kind of feeling. I love my stories and I love telling them, but when I first started, I was really surprised other people liked my stories, too! I write them for me most of the times and what I would like to read, so it’s an incredible feeling to create something that’s special to me that others love as well. I feel very honored to be able to do this for a living and to share stories with strangers and hopefully touch their lives.

3. What is Omega all about? Where did the idea started?

“Omega” is my second young adult series about the strong, brave and golden hearted eighteen-year-old Oracle of Delphi coming of age in a world that’s been destroyed by war between the Greek gods and humanity. She has to help save her world using the power only an Oracle possesses. There’s a strong political element to it as well, partially because it’s set in Washington DC, where she must determine who she can trust to guide her into becoming the heroine her world needs. She’s surrounded by amazing characters, too: Silent Queen, Grotesque Prince, the Mercenary, High Priestess, Supreme Magistrate, Shadow Titan, and the People’s Champion.

I first thought of it when I was walking down the Strip in Las Vegas, of all places! My husband and I go to Vegas a couple times a year because of his job, and I was admiring the display outside Caesar’s Palace and thought – I’m not so much interested in Roman history as Greek. Maybe I should write a book about Greek gods in a modern world like ours.

From there, it snowballed, and I started writing soon after!

4. Have you always been a fan of Greek Mythology? (Because I am! That’s why I’m really excited for your book!)

I’m a fan of all things ancient. I love mythology in general and reading about ancient peoples from all around the world.

5. There’s these Omega Beginnings Miniseries you wrote. Tell us about it and where we can buy it 🙂

The Omega Beginnings Miniseries consists of eight short stories and introduces the characters from “Omega.” It’s set twelve years before “Omega,” and I refer to it as a game of tag whereby all eight of the major characters from “Omega” are drawn into the story.

It starts with five-year-old Alessandra, who awakens the Grotesque Prince, who goes on to touch the life of the Silent Queen and so on. The eight characters are linked – but won’t know that until they meet up in “Omega.”

The episodes of the Miniseries are available for free in ebook from Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes and Noble, iBooks, Kobo, Sony and Smashwords (which has the Kindle version, because sometimes Amazon is slow to set them free!)

6. How does it feel that even though Omega isn’t released yet, readers are eager to read it already?

Awesome! This series is going to be so amazing! I have such cool plans for the second and third books! I’m so happy people are interested!

7. Who influenced you in writing? Any favorite author?

My favorite author of all time is Jane Austen. I learned from her how to make characters flawed and redeemable. I’m huge about character driven books. Her writing was a great influence on mine!

8. What are your favorite books?

My all time favorite fiction book is “Pride and Prejudice!” For the most part, I read outside the genres I read in. I read a lot of non-fction and on occasion, epic fantasy.

9. Thank you so much Lizzy!

Thank you all for your support and for all the love and smiles you’ve brought into my life. I hope my books can do the same for you!!

Be sure to check the amazing prequel to Omega! Get to know the six out of eight characters in this awesome young adult epic fantasy! The miniseries are for ereading only 🙂

But Phoibe doesn’t care about any of that. She wants to be loved by someone, and that someone is a mysterious shadow named Lantos who talks to her when no one else will.

Before leaving, the gargoyle Mismatch made her promise never to speak aloud again, or she’ll seal her fate, and the family curse will claim her. She obeys him – and faces the wrath of cruel caretakers sworn to ensure the curse comes to pass.
